Large American neo classical sterling silver copote bowl masterfully crafted in the famous Medallion pattern by Gorham Silversmiths of Providence, Rhode Island c.1865. This early American silvermaker was known for expert craftsmanship and brilliant silversmiths who created pieces of enduring art and beauty.

Compotes are a beautiful way to display fruit on a table and the applied medallion handles are ideal to hold and elevate bunches of grapes for perfect visual appeal. This gorgeous neoclassical example of their style features exquisite medallion embellishment complemented by an elegant pedestal base.

It measures 7 1/2\” across the handles, stands 4\” tall and weighs 263 grams or 8.5 ozs Troy.

The remarkable original condition and clear, crisp detail, with no monograms, removals, repairs or alterations, make this an especially attractive offering.

The soft, warm, original finish is present, with no buffing or machine polishing.
